Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has completed the Oud Metha Road and Al Asayel Street Development Project, a set of road works that adds new infrastructure and intersection upgrades in the area. The project forms part of the authority’s wider efforts to improve traffic movement along one of the city’s busy corridors.
The completed scheme covers four major intersections and includes four bridges as well as two tunnels, with the bridge-and-tunnel section stretching 4,300 metres in total. In addition, road works were carried out across 14 kilometres, reshaping the route network serving the surrounding district.
According to the RTA, the project has raised the capacity of Oud Metha Road from 10,400 vehicles an hour to 15,600 vehicles an hour. That represents an increase of 50% in the road’s throughput, based on the authority’s figures.
